The Simcoe County Branch obtained it’s Charter, becoming a Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society in 1983. We are located in Central Ontario, just north of Toronto. Simcoe County is the largest county in Ontario.

Our mission statement says, we are “encouraging, bringing together and assisting those interested in the pursuit of genealogy and family history in Simcoe County”. Our members focus on preserving information that will be useful for anyone doing research on ancestors from Simcoe County. We also provide a sound base for researchers living here who have ancestors in other areas around the world.

Our members have an interest in genealogy and enjoy meeting with other like-minded people. Our executive is made of up volunteers, as are all the teams working on various branch projects. We are not professional genealogists who for a fee, search out your family tree.

The OGS is a registered charity and issues Canadian income tax receipts for all donations, including those received by Branches. We also welcome donations of family histories, books, maps and other genealogical items.

Joining the Simcoe County Branch of the OGS is a good way to expand the scope of your genealogical research, as well as to meet people with similar interests.
