Genealogical Societies

Genealogical societies can be a valuable source of information. They often publish indexes and transcriptions of records in their area of interest. Some organizations, such as ourselves, will have searchable online databases that will help guide you to the location of records of interest to you. Their websites will frequently have a section with member interests, where you can connect with others researching the same families as yourself.

We all have ancestors and relatives who lived beyond the boundary of Simcoe County in other parts of Ontario, Canada and beyond. You should become familiar with and/or join the local genealogical societies for the area you are researching. Even if you are already a member with one society, remember that your dues to any genealogical society will help these organizations continue to create important, time-saving resources.
