We hope you will think of our resources section as the place to come for the basics. If you are looking for assistance on how to do something, wondering what might be in the branch collection, or want to contact a local repository, start here.

Whether you are just beginning your family tree or are a professional genealogist, take some time to check out our research guides. This is a “How to” section that provides some commentary, as well as links to sites that can assist you with some of the issues that will arise during the course of your research.

This is also the section that describes our branch resources. These are divided into two parts; what is available in our branch collection that is housed at the Barrie Public Library, as well as our online Settlers Surname Data Base.

Finally, we have put together lists of various resources and repositories located within Simcoe County or further afield that we hope will assist you in your quest for your family.

As with most web pages, this is a work in progress. If you find a resource that might help others with their research, please contact the Webmaster.
