Library Collection

The Simcoe County Branch, Ontario Ancestors (formerly the Ontario Genealogical Society) has an extensive collection of holdings that can be a valuable tool for researchers. The collection is housed in the Downtown Branch of the Barrie Public Library. You can search the Simcoe County Branch library holdings on the Barrie Public Library web site, or use the Branch Master Library Catalogue in the table below. Please note, as of November 2014, the location of the collection within the library was changed and is now situated on open shelves situated just east (right) of the volunteer office. At the same time, the library’s local history collection was also moved and is situated adjacent to the genealogical collection. All materials must be examined in the library and can be accessed during regular library hours. Items not available locally may often be borrowed from other libraries, including the Archives of Ontario, through the library’s Inter Library Loan Service. Microfilm and microfiche reader/printers are available.

For more information on what is available in the Barrie Public Library Local History collection, please visit the Genealogy, Ancestry and Local History section of their website.
